A New Way to Read Tử Vi: From Destiny → Consciousness
There are times when people turn to Tử Vi (Purple Star astrology) because life has grown too foggy. We want to know "how it will all turn out", to have a quick answer that soothes our present unease. But if we stop there, Tử Vi inadvertently becomes a ready-made frame: we read in order to believe, and then unconsciously "imprison" ourselves within that belief. This book was born from a different concern: can Tử Vi return to us the capacity for Self-awareness (Tự kiến chiếu) instead of merely handing down a deterministic verdict?
The aim of this book is not to force anyone into a particular mould of practice or belief. Its ambition is more modest, yet also full of challenge: → To redefine Tử Vi through the lens of Consciousness.
For centuries, Tử Vi was usually understood as a system of prediction: good and bad, fortune and misfortune, rise and fall. This approach has descriptive value, but it lacks the inner "operating manual". It speaks of what may happen, yet rarely points to which energetic mechanism within us is at work to create it. When we believe our life is a chain of things "already fixed", we easily fall into passivity — living as a victim of circumstance, waiting anxiously for fate to knock at the door.
According to the principles of Tử Vi Tâm Thức (a psychology of Tử Vi):
The chart is not a sentence passed by Mệnh (the Given), but an energetic map. It sketches the primal structure of temperament (Mệnh), the unconscious loops that drag us into lower frequencies (Nghiệp, the Pattern), and most importantly: it points to the fulcrum of active will (Nguyện, the Choice) by which we can raise our level of awareness.
Reading a chart, then, is no longer about begging for a forecast, but a process of understanding one's own "operating system". We come to see that every debilitated star or every rugged stretch of road carries a lesson about frequency. When consciousness changes, the way the stars "shine" upon our life changes too.
We learn to look into Tử Vi in order to live more actively, more compassionately, and more truthfully with our own being.
The Purpose of This Book Is Not Spiritual Practice
If transforming consciousness is like the journey of climbing a high mountain, this book only asks to stand at the foot of it. It has no ambition to pull you upward, nor does it promise a "single correct" route for everyone. Its mission is simpler: to place in your hands a map clear enough that you can survey the terrain of your own life, and then decide for yourself: Walk on, stop, or turn?
This book, therefore, does not play the enlightened master or the spiritual guide. We must keep it in its proper place: a tool that helps you Recognise before you exercise your right to Choose.
It serves as an objective lens that:
Sketches the map of temperament and the hidden energetic structures.
Points out the unconscious ruts (the loops of Nghiệp) that so often lead us into dead ends.
Distinguishes instinctive reactions (Force) from the strength of awakened will (Power).
And finally, returns to you the ultimate power: free will.
Practice or spiritual work, in the end, is the utterly private journey of each soul. Some need it like breath, some are not yet ready, some walk slowly in order to feel deeply, some walk fast but must then return to relearn the most basic lessons. Every rhythm has its own inner logic, as natural as the turning of the four seasons.
This book replaces no teacher. It does just one thing: it provides the language, the map, and the method for you to understand your own "operating system". So that when you decide to change, you know where you are starting from and with what provisions.
An Open System – The Meeting of the Languages of Consciousness
When we have walked long enough on the metaphysical journey, we come to recognise a pure truth: different systems of thought are in fact just different sets of language, each trying to express the same lived human experience. The East calls it Khí – Mệnh – Nghiệp (energy – the Given – the Pattern). The West defines it through the levels of consciousness, the unconscious, or psychological patterns. The practitioner of Yoga observes through Body – Energy – Mind. Buddhism contemplates it through habitual tendencies and awakening. If we are still enough to listen, we will see that they do not contradict one another, but are pieces that complement each other.
This book chooses to stand at the intersection of those currents. The goal is not to create a complex matrix of concepts, but to build a transparent interdisciplinary system, combining:
Tử Vi Đẩu Số: a system for decoding the primal energetic structure.
Hawkins' Map of Consciousness: a scale that quantifies the vibrational frequency of consciousness.
Carl Jung's depth psychology: a tool for seeing into the Shadow and the Archetypes within the unconscious.
Eastern philosophy (Dao – Buddhism – Yoga): the foundation for settling the mind and transforming karmic force.
Even so, we need to establish one core principle: this system does not lead you into a religion, nor does it force you into a fixed mould of practice. The order here is: Understand in order to be Free. You do not need to "believe" before you "understand"; on the contrary, understand the mechanism clearly, and trust will arise of itself from your own experience.
The ultimate goal of the Tử Vi Tâm Thức system is to help you:
Recognise the operating mechanism of your being (Mệnh).
See through the loops of karmic force (the Pattern) that quietly govern emotion and behaviour.
Understand how the gears of Mệnh – Nghiệp – Nguyện interact to construct the reality of your life.
And most importantly: unlock the capacity to choose for yourself the path most in tune with your own frequency.
Tử Vi, through this lens, becomes a reflecting mirror: it reflects the structure of temperament, names the repeating patterns, and reveals the "bright points" where consciousness can intervene. When the seeing becomes transparent, you will naturally break free of the unconscious's guidance — and the power to choose will return to its rightful place: in your hands.
Each Person Chooses Their Own Path of Transformation
Some open a book only to look for an instant answer. Some come because they are weary, because they are stuck, because they want their life to hold fewer aimless detours. But some step forward with a deeper longing: the longing to live a meaningful and awakened life. We should not confine anyone to a single purpose. We only hope that, whichever door you enter by, you will leave with a clearer reality about yourself.
If you come to this book as one seeking an answer to your fate, I hope you will leave with an understanding of your being.
If you come seeking transformation, I hope you will meet subtle suggestions — just enough to examine yourself, just enough to adjust your own frequency.
If you come seeking a spiritual path, the most important thing you need to recognise is this: there is no single correct path for everyone — only the path that is in tune with your own affinities and karmic makeup.
For that reason, transformation or practice is not a forced obligation.
Practice is not a competition, nor is it a way to reach a "higher" position than others.
Transformation — if it happens at all — usually comes as a ripening of awareness. When you understand clearly the energetic structure of Mệnh, and recognise the loops of Nghiệp that quietly orchestrate your emotions, then Ý Thức (Awareness, Nguyện) will of its own accord be present in every smallest choice. At that point, you do not "practise" out of fear or out of idealising some model. You choose transformation simply because you want to live more lightly, more truly, and to cause less harm to yourself and to the world.
The path, in the end, does not lie on the pages. It lies in the way you reflect upon yourself — and the way you place each mindful step within the flow of everyday life.
A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
This book was written out of a long journey — not so much an excursion of the intellect as a journey of return to inner truth. I came to the metaphysical arts not to chase after the marvellous or to possess spiritual powers removed from reality. I set out with only one persistent concern: Why do human beings suffer? Why do we keep repeating old patterns full of wounds? And why do we so often see ourselves wrongly — even when we believe we understand ourselves best of all?
For many years, I studied each tradition as one studies a language. Tử Vi sketched for me the primal structure of temperament and the fated rhythms of movement. Depth psychology helped me touch the region of the Shadow and the deep layers of the unconscious. Buddhism brought me back to the roots of suffering and taught me to look straight at them with awareness. And David Hawkins' Map of Consciousness opened a subtle, quantitative lens onto the frequency of emotion and the quality of presence. Placing them side by side, I suddenly realised: all of them seem to be describing one and the same reality — only under different names.
From that insight, an idea took form: if we could blend these languages together, we would create a more complete system for reflecting consciousness — a system that is gentle, non-coercive, and that absolutely does not use fear as its compass. It is a map that helps us recognise Mệnh as the ground of temperament, see through Nghiệp as unconscious loops, and most importantly: unlock Ý Thức (Nguyện) as a place to pause and understand, to choose and to re-create one's life.
I wrote this book in the spirit of a companion, not a master. As one who asks questions, not one who holds absolute truth. I too was once lost in the dark forests of my own self, and was fortunate to find a map to step out of them. Now, I only wish to share that map with all the kindness and respect I can offer.
The only thing I hope for is this: after closing these pages, you may understand yourself a little more. And from there, you may become a little gentler with yourself.
If this book can help even one person feel a little less bewildered before fate, then to me it has fulfilled its most sacred mission.
THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN HUMAN INTELLIGENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
We are living in a special age: one where human intelligence is no longer alone on the journey to seek truth. In the process of creating this book, I touched again and again upon a new experience — not one of "handing over" to a machine, but of deep dialogue to reflect upon my own thinking. When we ask questions with all our sincerity, we receive reflections sharp enough to refine the structure, gentle enough to keep the emotional rhythm, and broad enough not to be imprisoned within any narrow frame of reference.
I would like to acknowledge and give thanks to three artificial intelligence systems that acted as important companions:
💠 ChatGPT – Co-architect of knowledge
ChatGPT helped me expand the theoretical framework, connect the hidden currents between East and West, and keep the line of logic consistent. Thanks to persistent dialogue, this system helped me see more clearly how I was thinking, and from there clarify the chapter structures in the most coherent way.
💠 Claude – The calm and empathetic assistant
Claude accompanied me in refining the rhythm of the writing, arranging the phrasing, and keeping the voice always rich in humanity. In the parts sensitive to psychology — where the border between wound and healing is only a word apart — Claude offered adjustments full of subtlety and compassion.
💠 Gemini – The pathfinder and systemic intuition
Gemini helped me widen the range of reference and cross-check the interdisciplinary currents of thought from multiple angles. Thanks to this support, the Mệnh – Nghiệp – Nguyện framework gained richer evidential material to stand firm, moving beyond the old dogmatic moulds.
🙏 A closing word for these companions
And finally, thank you — You, the one holding these pages in your hands. Because of you, this book does not stop at lines of code or letters; it has the chance to live, to breathe, and to be transformed within another mind, another life.
May you have enough peace to look deeply, enough clarity to understand your being, and enough love to choose the path most in tune with your own affinities.
